Creating a Goal
To create a Goal, Select Goals from the menu then click the + New Goal button from the top right of the Goals page.
You'll be taken to the Create Goal page.
Enter a name for the Goal, optionally a description, then select the Goal type - either Company, Team or Personal, the Goal duration & optionally the Alignment.
If you select Team or Personal as the Goal Type, you will then need to select the owner - either the Team or the Employee the Goal relates to.
Once you've created your Goal, you will be taken to the Goal page. Here you can add in your Key Results & and optional Tasks.
Adding Key Results
Key Results are metrics that will need to be achieved for the Goal to be completed. Click the +Add button to create your Key Results.
These are typically 2 - 5 targets which contribute to the overall progress of the Goal. Key Results can have different formats, such as Complete/Incomplete, financial targets (currency options), percentage completion or numerical values.
Key results also have a Base Value and a Target Value, for example, a Sales Key Result could be to increase new sales by £10,000, with a Base Value of £22,500 and a Target Value of £32,500.
Key results targets can also reduce, for example a Customer Service Key Result could be to reduce the number of unsatisfied customer tickets by 15 from 75 to 60.
If you choose Boolean (Yes/No or Complete/Incomplete), the Base Value and Target Value is not necessary.
Adding Tasks
Optionally, you can add tasks to your Goal. Tasks are associated with Goals which define steps to be taken to achieve a Key Result. They are often short term and temporary in nature, Tasks are not associated with metrics like Key Results.
Feedback
When your Goal is in draft mode, you have the opportunity to request and submit feedback using the buttons at the top. We've created a guide specifically around feedback, which can be found here.
Use the buttons at the top of the page to either request feedback from another collaborator, or submit feedback. These will all be documented in the timeline.
Submitting for Approval
Some Goals will not require approval (dependent on Company Settings).
If your Goal requires approval, you will see a Submit for Approval button.
A dialog will appear once you click to submit, here you can select your Approver, this list is based on the Goal Configuration options. When you're happy with your approver(s), click Submit for Approval.
The Goal will automatically change status to Pending Approval until the Goal has been approved, when it will change to Not Started.
If your Goal does not require approval, you will be able to self-approve using the green Approve button.
